Welcome from the Editors

Welcome to Global Strategy Journal (GSJ)! Being the leading journal in global strategy, GSJ publishes impactful articles that shape research conversations. Our editorial strategy is to work with the authors and reviewers to create and curate highly impactful articles that shape the field. We focus on quality as a specialized journal with four issues per year.

Although a relatively young journal, having started in 2011, GSJ has developed a strong reputation among the strategic management and international business communities. The journal was inducted into Clarivate Web of Science Social Sciences Citation Index in 2015. Its current 2-year and 5-year impact factors are 7.393 and 8.129, respectively, making it a Q1 journal in the management category. The Chartered Association of Business Schools' Academic Journal Guide classified GSJ as a 4-level journal.

The editorial team is composed of a wide diversity of leading scholars. In 2023, Grazia D. Santangelo (Copenhagen Business School) joined the co-editor group alongside Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra (Northeastern University) and Gabriel R.G. Benito (BI Norwegian Business School). In the associate editor team, in 2022, Chang Hoon Oh (University of Kansas) and Stephanie Wang (Indiana University) joined as new associate editors alongside Rene Belderbos (KU Leuven), Rian Drogendijk (University of Groningen), Marcus Møller Larsen (Copenhagen Business School), and Sergio Lazzarini (Ivey Business School), as Dan Li (Indiana University), Shige Makino (Chinese University of Hong Kong), Anupama Phene (George Washington University), and Lucia Piscitello (Politecnico di Milano) stepped down.

To celebrate the journal's first decade, we published two Decade Celebration special issues in 2022; August (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/20425805/2022/12/3) and November (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/20425805/2022/12/4. These contain articles by thought leaders in strategic and international management that reflect on the past and future of key themes in global strategy.

We design the journal's issues for maximum readability and impact. To achieve this, we assemble regular issues with articles that share topical similarities. The two regular issues in 2022 include articles grouped around common themes, one on innovation and learning (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/20425805/2022/12/1) and another on contextual influences on strategy (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/20425805/2022/12/2) while the first regular issue in 2023 presented articles on the micro-foundations of global strategy and its connections with global corporate governance \https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/20425805/2023/13/1).

We also organize special issues—which have their own designated call for papers and submission handling process— that open new research conversations. We have two forthcoming special issues, one on "Complexity and Multinationals" (edited by Julian Birkinshaw, Marcus M. Larsen, Yue Maggie Zhou, and Gabriel R.G. Benito) in 2023 and one on "Ownership and Global Strategy" (edited by Geoffrey T. Wood, Anna Grosman, Michael J. Mol, and Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra) in 2024.

As GSJ editors, we are committed to being developmental and constructive in our handling of submitted manuscripts and working with authors to achieve maximum impact. If you are interested in submitting your work to GSJ, be confident that you will be given every chance to polish your work and a good bit of editorial developmental assistance in doing so. We look forward to receiving your best work.

Our best wishes to global strategy scholars,

Gabriel R.G. Benito, Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra, and Grazia D. Santangelo
